철제를 주조로 무기를 만들려면.. 상상이 안되네요..
철기시대에 발견된 거푸집은 청동기를 만들기 위한 거푸집 일겁니다. 전통적인 방식의 도검은 단조로 만들죠. 철강석 + 석탄을 같이 넣고 태워서 철 덩어리를 만들고, 그 철 덩어리를 가지고(두둘겨 패서) 칼을 만듭니다

좀 더 부연설명을 해 드리죠.
춘추 전국시대를 연도로 따지면 대략 BC 4세기쯤 될 겁니다. 같은 시기에 멀리 그리스에서는 BC 401에 페르시아의 아르타크세르크세스 왕의 공격을 받게 되는데, 이 때 경무장한 보병 이야기가 나옵니다. 아르타크세르크세스의 돌팔매질 부대에 그리스군이 큰 피해를 봤다고 서술되어 있군요. 물론 1:1로 대응시킬 수는 없습니다. 하지만 훗날 단검 투척부대인 벨리테스로 이 역할이 넘어갔던 걸 생각하면, 춘추전국시대를 통해 그러한 돌로 된 무기에서 점차 철로 된 무기를 지급했을 가능성이 높았을 거라는 생각이 듭니다. 게다가 이 시기는 백병전으로 본격적으로 돌입하기 직전의 시기입니다. 춘추시대만 해도 주력은 전차였다고 하는데, 그렇다면 병사들에게 철제 무기를 지급하게 된 건 한참 후라는 이야기가 되죠. 이하는 영문 위키에서 고대의 돌팔매질 관련 부분을 Ctrl CV한 겁니다. The sling is mentioned by Homer[4] and by many other Greek authors. The historian of the famous retreat of the Ten Thousand, 401 BC, relates that the Greeks suffered severely from the slingers in the army of Artaxerxes II of Persia, while they themselves had neither cavalry nor slingers, and were unable to reach the enemy with their arrows and javelins. This deficiency was later rectified when a company of 200 Rhodians, who understood the use of leaden sling-bullets, was formed. They were able, says Xenophon, to project their missiles twice as far as the Persian slingers, who used large stones.[5] Ancient authors seemed to believe, incorrectly, that sling-bullets could penetrate armour, and that lead projectiles, heated by their passage through the air, would melt in flight.[6][7] In the first instance, it seems likely that the authors were indicating that slings could cause injury through armour by a percussive effect rather than by penetration.[citation needed] In the latter case we may imagine that they were impressed by the degree of deformation suffered by lead sling-bullet after hitting a hard target.[citation needed] Various ancient peoples enjoyed a reputation for skill with the sling. Thucydides mentions the Acarnanians and Livy refers to the inhabitants of three Greek cities on the northern coast of the Peloponnesus as expert slingers. Livy also mentions the most famous of ancient skillful slingers: the people of the Balearic Islands. Of these people Strabo writes: And their training in the use of slings used to be such, from childhood up, that they would not so much as give bread to their children unless they first hit it with the sling.[8] The late Roman writer Vegetius, in his work De Re Militari, wrote: Recruits are to be taught the art of throwing stones both with the hand and sling. The inhabitants of the Balearic Islands are said to have been the inventors of slings, and to have managed them with surprising dexterity, owing to the manner of bringing up their children. The children were not allowed to have their food by their mothers till they had first struck it with their sling. Soldiers, notwithstanding their defensive armour, are often more annoyed by the round stones from the sling than by all the arrows of the enemy. Stones kill without mangling the body, and the contusion is mortal without loss of blood. It is universally known the ancients employed slingers in all their engagements. There is the greater reason for instructing all troops, without exception, in this exercise, as the sling cannot be reckoned any encumbrance, and often is of the greatest service, especially when they are obliged to engage in stony places, to defend a mountain or an eminence, or to repulse an enemy at the attack of a castle or city.[9]

아아 단조무기인데 잘못썼군요.
어쨋든, 전국시대는 분명 보병전인데... 그리고 거푸집 같은 경우는 주조법을 알고 있었다는 증거가 되니 철기를 주조했다 라고 학창시절에 국사선생님이 말씀하셨던 적이 있어서 그럽니다. 그리고 보병전은 춘추 말에 오월이 패자였던 시절에 등장하지 않나요?

고대에는 일반 보병한테는 도검 안줍니다.
도검에 들어갈 철의 1/3 정도만 있어도 훨씬 다루기 쉽고 훌륭한 무기인 창을 만들수 있거든요.

1/3도 그렇고 만들기도 창이 도검보다 훨씬 쉽죠. 게다가 도검병을 어설프게 훈련시키는것보다 대열을 짜서 돌진만 시켜도
어느정도 쓸만한 창병이 훨씬 도움이 된다는거...

시황제 통일 후 모든 무기를 녹여 농기구로 만들라 통일돼어 전쟁이 없을테니,라고 한걸 봐서 전국시대에 대규모 보병을 위한 철기무기가 나타났다고 보는게 좋지 않을까요 비전공자의 카더라입니다만
